Arc. John Longkat Shindai Alkali hails from Shendam in Plateau State.\u00a0 He had his First School Leaving Certificate\u00a0 from St. Joseph College, Vom in 1969; B.Sc. and M.Sc. Architecture from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1975 and 1977 respectively. Arc. Alkali is a seasoned administrator with a lot of experiences; haven worked for over thirty years in the Public Sector.\u00a0 He rose as a Architect I in 1978 to become a Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry in 2003.<\/p>\n

The developmental history of the Federal Capital Territory cannot be complete without mentioning the name “Arc John Alkali”.\u00a0 This is so because he was the Director of Public Building, Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA from 1996 – 2000; Director, Architecture, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing from 2001 – 2002; Executive Director, Works & Technical Services, Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) from 2002 – 2003; Pioneer Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development from 2003 – 2006; and Permanent Secretary, Manpower Development Office, Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation from August 2006 to September 2006.
\nIn October 2006, he retired voluntarily as a Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service into active politics, private business and practice.<\/p>\n

Arc. Alkali has chaired a lot of committees.\u00a0 He has attended seminars and conferences in Nigeria and outside the shores of the Country.
\nHe is a Fellow, Nigeria Institute of Architecture, Member of Nigeria Institute of Town Planning.\u00a0 He has numerous awards amongst which are the national award as the Officer of the Niger (OON), Public Service Merit for excellence award, Award of Excellence by Nigeria Institute of Building, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah outstanding Merit Award; Africa Meritorious Service for good conduct etc.
