The Collaboration between the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI) and Hydrafoam International (PTY), a South African Based Alternative Building Technology household has started producing results. This follows the production of the M9 Compact Interlocking Blockmaking Machine. The M9 is inclusive of a 220V electric motor, hydraulic power pack including hydraulic cylinder, fitted compression chamber, hand-operated pre-compacting top gate assembly, loading assembly, all fitted on a frame.
The M9 Compact Interlocking Blockmaking Machine can produce 500 block per 8 hour shift and can be handled by 8 operators doing various production works. Its dimensions are 1.3 x 1.1 x 0.9m while it weighs only 290kg (excluding crating). The M9 Moulds are 220mm standard interlocking block which requires minimal mortar and some of its accessories include: Spares, Pan Mixer, Block Cutter, Block tester among others.
Speaking at a brief ceremony to receive the Machines, the DG NBRRI Prof Danladi Matawal said the machines are a result of a very fruitful partnership between the two entities. Matawal noted that the machine will revolutionalize the building sector as the dream of Mass Housing to reduce the Housing deficit in Nigeria will be impacted. The DG said very soon mass production of the M9 will commence and it will be available for interested Nigerians for onward housing development.
