The partnership between the North Central Zonal Office of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute in Jos and the Rotary Club to train Artisans among the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) on brick making took an exceptional boost as the Training took off in Jos on Tuesday 16th of February, 2021 with selected IDPs from three Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
The Director-General/CEO of NBRRI Prof. Samson Duna was represented by the Head of Consultancy and Extension Services Department, Mr. Daniel Makava, who flagged off the training with the President of the Rotary Club, Jos Central District Rotarian Edeh and other officials of the club.
The Zonal Coordinator of NBRRI North Centra Zonal Office, Jos, Mr. Terver Tyosar delivered the welcome address as he urged the participants to take seriously the opportunity as the skills acquired during the training will make them self-reliance and provide them with new means of livelihood.
While speaking, the President of the Rotary Club expressed joy on the successful partnership between the club and NBRRI to train the IDPs and prayed that the partnership will be sustained for the benefit of the less privileged.
The Head, NBRRI Pozzolana and Skills Acquisition Centre, Bokkos, Arc. Dafang Maton delivered a lecture titled: “Introducing NBRRI in Brief ” to the participants, highlighting the mandates of the Institute, achievements, roles of the zonal offices, and the need for capacity building in the construction industry to get skilled manpower.
The training is to cover classroom sessions as well as practical sessions and will run from 16th to 25th of February, 2021.
