In its concerted effort to enhance the capacity and efficiency of its staff, the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute has welcomed collaboration with Costech Computers Limited. The synergy between NBRRI and Costech Computers Limited was initiated when a MoU was signed on the 26th of February, 2020 at the Administrative Headquarters of the Institute. Present at this important event was the executives of Costech Computers and the DG/CEO of the institute and top management staff.

Speaking at the DG’S Conference room, Mr Femi Aderinola noted that the call for the visit was to foster collaboration and partnership among stakeholders and the use of the institute’s facility to train staff in the usage of BIM which will ultimately build the capacity of staff especially researchers. He disclosed that some programs were currently been run in other parts of the country and Africa as a whole. He also mentioned that the collaboration can also link similar partnership between research institutes and the private sector to ensure that the country and its citizens benefit from technological innovations.

Responding, the DG OF NBRRI, Prof. Samson Duna welcomed the team and the initiative, adding that NBRRI is always looking forward to collaborations that will benefit Nigerians and help the institute achieve her goals and objectives.

Prof Samson Duna gave an overview of the activities of the institute, and gave an emphasis on priority areas such as various R&D activities, training and capacity building, technologies for Rural/Access Road construction amongst others. He mentioned that the MoU document has passed through a litmus test to ensure that the document is accurate. He expressed his hope that the collaboration will produce revenue for all stake holders involved and also enhance staff improvement in various ways and also help improve the institute’s good name.

The event was marked by the signing of the Mou document and a group photograph. Prof. Samson Duna also invited them for the Institute’s annual conference.
