The Hydraform interlocking block making machine is an interlocking machine that is used for the production of earth block used in many countries for construction processes. The interlocking block is made from soil cement which is a mixture of soil, cement and water and is hydraulically compressed to form a high quality interlocking soil block.
As part of the objectives of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute, research is the backbone of the Institute which is why the Institute has launched the research and fabrication of local building materials to enable good and affordable construction in the country.
Among such is the research and fabrication on Hydraform. The Hydraform building system makes use of local raw materials to manufacture building blocks stabilized with 5-8% of cement. The Hydraform building system has been approved and used by relevant authorities in South Africa.
The advantages of the Hydraform building system is that the blocks saves both transportation and construction costs and construction with these blocks does not require high technical expertise and people can learn how to use them quickly. It is also environmentally friendly and it serves as an excellent insulation material. The blocks have high finish and aesthetics and are faster to construct with.
All these and more are reasons why the Institute is working tirelessly to ensure that Hydraform materials are readily available for construction purposes across the country as the Institute have started the process of researching into manufacturing her own Hydraform machine which will solve the issue of dependency on importation; and promote local manufacturing.
