The institute’s board chairman led the team, which comprised the DG/CEO of the Nigeria Building and Road Research Institute, Director of Admin and Personnel and Principal Research staff from the Road Research department to Germany at the instance of Infratest Testing System Germany.

The aim of the visit is centered on a tripartite vision of the Director General and the management of Infratest Germany. This tripartite vision involves and is not limited to a few points highlighted below.

  1. Equipping the road research lab with state-of-the-art equipment will help redefine the research quality and workforce in pavement science.
  2. To have an exchange program of Technicians, Engineers, and Researchers between Nigerian and Germany in the road sector to acquire knowledge and to aid technology transfer.
  3. To build a sustainable relationship with universities, research institutions, and companies involved in the road sector in Germany via Infratest.

The team also to visit the IBQ research institute, JRS fibre company and SWECCO. SWECCO is the largest manufacturer of falling-weight deflectometer in the world. IBQ Institute which is one of the biggest civil laboratories in Germany for testing building construction materials.

Furthermore, the team appreciated the production quality, technicality, expertise, and ingenuity, deployed in the factory. The board chairman, who was impressed, further added that there would be a need to send technicians, engineers, and researchers to come and have training and possibilities of establishing such factories in Nigeria.
